Six values.
One standard.

These are not words we chose because they sounded well together. They are the things we hold one another to, and the grounds on which we hold our place.

The six values

I
Excellence
We do the work properly or we do not call it done. Excellence is not perfectionism; it is refusing to hand over something we would not be proud to put our name beside.Good enough is a decision, and we make it rarely.
II
Stewardship
What we are given, we tend — our resources, our relationships, our reputation, the Circle itself. A steward leaves things better than they found them and never mistakes possession for ownership.
III
Curiosity
We stay students. We ask the question behind the question, and we are more interested in being corrected than in being right. The builder who has stopped wondering has stopped building.
IV
Authenticity
We show up as ourselves, without the performance. In a high-trust room, pretence is expensive and honesty is the shortcut. We say the true thing, kindly.
V
Contribution
We give before we take, and we measure ourselves by what we add. The Circle runs on generosity offered without a ledger, and returns it many times over.
VI
Community
We rise together or not at all. We celebrate one another's wins without envy and carry one another's setbacks without judgement. The Circle is only ever as strong as the trust between any two of us.
Ten standards

The Builder Code,
in practice.

Values become real only as behaviour. These are the standards every builder keeps, and keeps one another to.

  1. Hold yourself to the standard before anyone asks you to.

  2. Give before you take, and keep no ledger.

  3. What is shared in the Circle stays in the Circle.

  4. Say the true thing, and say it kindly.

  5. Show up prepared, or do not show up.

  6. Celebrate another builder's win as if it were your own.

  7. Offer help before it is requested; ask for it before it is too late.

  8. Leave every room, and every person, better than you found them.

  9. Reach back. Lift the next builder through.

  10. Protect the Circle's name with your own.

A standard kept by everyone
becomes a standard worth keeping.
